HOW DO UV Sterilizes WORK? Ultraviolet light wavelengths are shorter than visible light and carry more energy; just enough to kill microorganisms. As water passes through the unit (which can be used to treat one faucet or the entire house) the UV light rays penetrate the water, killing bacteria, inactivating viruses, making the water 99.9% safe.
Maintenance is simple: change the bulb and clean the quartz sleeve once a year.
PurGuard UV units are simple, effective bacteria treatment. Various sizes are available depending on the water volume demand in your home. This unit was designed by PurGuard and is a direct result to the many requests for a simple basic unit that retains the high quality of their AP and M units minus the bells and whistles. PURGUARD A SERIES ADVANTAGES
Tested and proven disinfection capacity: The Purguard A Series is biologically tested and verified for water disinfection at a rated flow. Each model will provide 30 to 40mJ/m2 ultraviolet dosage at rated flow at end of UV lamp life.
Electro-polished stainless steel disinfection chamber: The Purguard A series provide a 304 stainless steel disinfection chamber that is electro-polished. Each disinfection chamber has a male NPT bottom inlet and male NPT top outlet to insure optimum hydraulic profile. The disinfection chamber is equipped with a ground lug.
High output low pressure UV lamp: The Purguard A series are engineered with one high output low-pressure UV lamp centered within the disinfection chamber and protected by pure fused quartz sleeve. The high output UV lamps provide a greater UV intensity than a standard low-pressure lamp while maintaining the efficiency of the standard low-pressure lamps.
High efficient electronic ballast power supply: The Purguard A series utilize specially designed high efficient electronic ballast that is matched with the UV lamp to provide maximum UV intensity. The ballast includes smart technology to turn the ballast off if the UV lamp is not connected or operational.
Glow-cap lamp operation indicator: The Purguard A series include a Glow-cap lamp operation indicator that illuminates a blue glow when the UV lamp is operational. This allows the consumer to visually check the operation of the UV lamp without chance of exposure to the UV lamp.
UV lamp operation indicator: The Purguard A series include a UV lamp LED operation indicator that illuminates a green flow when the UV lamp is operational. This allows the consumer to visually check the operation of the UV lamp without chance of exposure to the UV lamp.
Safety lamp connector: The Purguard A series offer unique Safety Lamp Connector that locks into place and prevents the UV lamp to be removed from the system when operational. The safety Lamp Connector easily attaches to the UV lamp by locating the keyed UV lamp connector into the mating lamp base. This ensures a proper connection to the UV lamp without any special tools.
Audible Alarm: The control box provides an audible alarm. When the UV lamp is not on and operating, an audible alarm sounds indicating the UV lamp off alarm status condition.
NOTE: It is highly recommended to install a sediment (or even a carbon) filter before these units to ensure removal of particulates. Ultra Violet system can be used in conjuction with other water treatment devices.
