As with all of the CBR2 line, the CBR2-10R is a very technologically advanced water purifier. The main difference between the CBR2-10R and the rest of the line is that the CBR2-10R comes with a built in flow restrictor (0.6 gpm). This allows for maximum contact time between the water, and the filter. Giving the filter that much more time to do its work. The initial flow rate for this cartridge is 15 psi at one gallon per minute.
On top of the flow restrictor, with the CBR2-10R you still get all of the great features that are a part of the CBR2 line. The CBR2-10R is a multimedia water purification cartridge. Because of this fact, the unit is designed to remove any odor from the water and reduce the taste of chlorine. This is not a benefit that goes away after just a few gallons either. No, the CBR2-10R is able to improve the chlorine taste and smell of your water for 20,000 gallons at a flow rate of 1 gallon per minute. And on top of that, the unit also dissolves and particulates lead and mercury through a minimum of 2000 gallons (0.6 gpm). In fact, the CBR2-10R is effective in removing particles all the way down to 0.5 microns. The recommended temperature range for the CBR2-10R is between 40 and 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
While taste and smell are very important, there are other factors to consider when choosing a water purifier. The CBR2-10R should be able to answer all of your concerns as its innovative design removes cysts, MTBE, and some types of volatile organic chemicals, (VOCs). The CBR2-10R removes VOCs for up to 600 gallons and it removes MTBEs through 500 gallons both at a rate of 0.6 gpm. The unit is also 99.5% effective in filtering out harmful bacteria such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba, and even Toxoplasma cysts.
The thing that makes the CBR2-10R so great is its forward design. The 9 3/4 inch by 2 7/8 inch filter is made through a patented process which blends powdered activated carbon (PAC) with a specially engineered agent. This agent was created to both absorb lead and reduce mercury making the water safer for consumption. Also to further improve the design, the manufacturer uses Endurawarp to protect the CBR2-10R cartridges. In traditional carbon filters, sediment is known to build up and eventually clog the filter. Endurawrap is a uniquely formulated polyolefin bilaminate pre-filter that traps the sediment and extends the life of the cartridge.
