The RFFE20-BB Radial Flow Iron Reduction Cartridge from Culligan provides efficient filtering of iron and other minerals from the main water line. The RFFE20-BB cartridge can safely remove up to 3 ppm iron from the main water source. The RFFE20-BB cartridge uses no chemicals to treat the water that passes through it, keeping the water safe for drinking. Using the RFFE20-BB cartridge to filter water removes metallic tastes and improves the overall flavor of the water.

The RFFE20-BB cartridge reduces the potential for damage to pipes, water heaters, and plumbing fixtures by filtering out elevated mineral levels. Filtering water also reduces the potential for brown or orange stains in tubs, sinks and toilets due to excess iron in the water.

The incoming water should have the following content limits when using the RFFE20-BB cartridge:

pH: > 7.0

Silica: < 100 ppm

Manganese: < 1 ppm

Iron: < 3 ppm

Iron Bacteria: None

Hydrogen Sulfide: None

Reduces dissolved iron up to 3 ppm when used in 20 inch Big Blue, BBFS-22, or BBFS-222 systems.

We would suggest that before purchasing this water treatment system, you have your water supply tested to determine your actual water treatment needs, and to make certain that your water quality is within the ''recommended operating conditions'' of this system. When water conditions exceed these limits, the filter life may be shortened considerably.

The RFFE20-BB cartridge is designed to filter minerals and particulates from the water. If the water contains Iron Bacteria, use shock chlorination to disinfect the water. The disinfection can be applied either before or after the RFFE20-BB cartridge in the water line.

When installing a RFFE20-BB cartridge, it should be installed on the main cold water line after the pressure tank or water meter.

A new RFFE20-BB cartridge may contain some small particulates that remain from the manufacturing process. After installing the RFFE20-BB cartridge, thoroughly flush the system with water to remove all particulates before using the water for any potable purpose. The RFFE20-BB cartridge must be protected from freezing. Freezing can result in cracks in the filter and water leakage.
For optimum filtering results, pre-filtering sediment removal and post-filtering carbon treatment are recommended.
