Pentek has been known for its spectacular performances of water filter systems. The 155155 CC-10 cartridge is made out of activated carbon and is known as coconut shell granular. The Pentek CC-10 sediment/carbon filter is known for its production of healthier, and better tasting purified water. It has the ability to provide taste and odor reduction and is very effective for removal of chlorine from filtered water. Based on various testing, coconut shell based activated carbon provides water that is of exceptional quality and taste.

Coconut Shell Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), used in CC-10 filters, provides more VOC reduction compared to non coconut shell GAC Filters.

The Pentek CC-10 cartridges are constructed in such a way that it allows the water to enter at one end and spread through out the entire carbon bed length before it is released from the other end of the cartridges. During the whole procedure, an expansion pad that is present internally minimizes the bypass or channeling. Before the water is released through the cartridges, a 20 micron post filter removes the fine particles of carbon along with other fine suspended particles from the water that is being filtered. The post filter is firmly secured with an innovative basket that supports and is permanently fastened so that it can eliminate any potentialities for bypass.

The CC-10 155155 20 micron cartridges may perform differently and vary depending on the condition of water and variable setting. The cartridges may contain fine particles of carbon, that is why it is very important that the tap is kept running a little to using the water for cooking or drinking. If the water treated is microbiologically unsafe, do not use it without proper treatment.

The CC-10 155155-43 is Tested and Certified by NSF to meet NSF/ANSI Standard 42, for material requirements. Further Internal testing of the CC-10 filters, at a flow rate of 0.6 gallons per minute (2.3 L/min) has shown an average of 92% reduction of 18.9 ppb MTBE through 750 gal (2840 L), and an average of 98% reduction of 300 ppb Chloroform (VOC surrogate chemical) through 425 gall (1605 L). However, this is not the ultimate filter for severe conditions of the above.
