These lengths are generally manufactured with a diameter of 2'' or 2.5''. Along with this there is variety of sizes in which inlet and outlet ports are available. They are also known as female NPT i.e. National Pipe Thread.

S = 1/4'' with a 90 degree female cuick connect that can be attached to both inlet and outlet of the filter. Choosing a NPT depends on that space available. It can be very easily connected and removed and hence it accounts for quick installation.
