GE Osmonics brought into the market the Purtrex filters which uses microfiber technology to beat competitors well in the water filtration industry. Poly depth filters are made up of polypropylene which is a great option for dirt holding. This makes purtrex sediment water filters more durable while less cartridge changes are required compared to most of the string wounded or resin bonded filters which require more changing and replacement. In addition, purtex sediment filters are quick on installation. There's no pre-rinsing required. No antistatic agents are found in the filters. The filtrate is clean and foam free as purtrex filters are made up fully of polypropylene. Since no pre-rinsing is required, a lot of downtime and labour is saved. The filtrate in these filters is consistent. Particles structure which are thermally bonded don't release any particles. In other ordinary filters, the unbounded strings separate on occasion to create channels when under pressure. The particles may then pass through these channels. However, Puretrex Polypropylene fibres help keep particles in trap even when the unit is under pressure. Purtrex Sediment filters deliver a filtrate consistent in quality. It would prevent upsets while downstream processing for its entire lifetime.

The material used is one hundred percent polypropylene which helps provide chemical compatibility together with ease in usage. Whereas the string-wound sediment filters consist of a core, string, antistatic agent, and may contain resins and/or binders.
