This is the most critical component to the RO system function. The Reverse Osmosis membrane provides the means of separating fresh, clean drinking water from everyday tap water.

Reverse osmosis separation technology is used to remove dissolved impurities from water through the use of a semi-permeable membrane. RO involves the reversal of flow through a membrane from a high salinity, or concentrated, solution to the high purity, or ��permeate��, stream on the opposite side of the membrane. Pressure is used as the driving force for the separation. The applied pressure (P) must be in excess of the osmotic pressure of the dissolved contaminants to allow flow across the membrane.

Effectively reduces: Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Lead, Cysts (Crytosporidia and Giardia) Barium, Radium Selenium, and others which might be in your water.

Cryptosporidium (crip-toe-spor-ID-ee-um) is a protozoan, a single-celled parasite, that lives in the intestines of animals and people. This microscopic pathogen causes a disease called cryptosporidiosis (crip-toe-spor-id-ee-O-sis).

Although this membrane is made of a thin film composite material (TFC), considered better than a CTA membrane, it may be used in the Cuno models below, on both - chlorinated or non-chlorinated water supplies. The TFC will not be damaged by the chlorine, since the following units have a Carbon filter prior to the TFC Membrane.

For use in the Cuno SQC 2 HF, SQC 3 HF, SQC 3 HF Nitrate, SQC 4 HF, SQC 4 HF Nitrate, SQC Pro, and similar models.

If used in SQC 1 HF on chlorinated water, you may wish to use a sediment/carbon cartridge as the Pre-filter, so this TFC Membrane lasts long without damage.
